CARE MANAGEMENT: What is it?

For the disability, liability and workers’ compensation clients Care Management includes many different services all revolving around a lower net cost of care. These services are diverse to handle the individualized needs of each payor organization. These services include:

Case Management

Case Management Service includes on site and telephonic services. We also deliver catastrophic case management as well as crisis intervention and early intervention. For our workers’ compensation markets, we focus on return to work programs and long and short term disability approaches.

Vocational Rehabilitation

Vocational Rehabilitation is an important part of the process. We help ease the process through our labor market surveys, transferable skills analysis, loss of earning capacity evaluations, ergonomic assessments, job placement service, job analysis & modification, and expert testimony services.

Medical Review Services

Our Medical Review Services span detailed and high level services which encompass life care planning, cost projections, legal nurse consulting, and Medicare set-aside allocations. In our continued dedication to providing necessary services to our customers we found that a variety of customers utilize medical cost projections and life care plans differently. Some desire a knowledge on where to set reserves, others want to have a more detailed explanation to current medical status as well as future medical expectations, then there is the full life care plan which is a more thoroughly documented analysis that is defensible in court.

Liability Review Services

HSI utilizes Certified Legal Nurse Consultant for Liability Review Services. Certified Nurses are skilled in interpreting medical records and translating the meaning of medical treatment into an easily understood format. The consultant reviews bodily injury or general liability claims and screens them for relatedness, causation, and legitimacy of claimed damages. The nurse consultant then prepares chronologies of the medical events, organizes and reviews medical records and bills and summarizes medical and nursing literature pertinent to the case. The nurse consultant possesses specialized knowledge of the health care system and is trained to review cases from a medical and legal perspective.

Disability Management

HSI focuses on Long and Short Term Disability Management. All of the services described above can be implemented to manage a disability case.

National Bill Review

HSI has access to a multitude of PPO networks and is highly skilled in negotiations on all types of bills. We ensure no duplicate payment through our proprietary software solutions and customized reporting which illustrate savings.
